Wakeful sleep

Kate McInnes

In my head
a symphony
of
madness
Through mists heave
demon beings
cloaked in human form
slivers of abandon
seeth from their lips
flesh orbs stare (those parasitic eyes!)
slithering shapes
wrest of
soul
from my singed awakening
am I mad too?
Paix cruel spectres
end combats
armistice is delicious.
