the only surety

Anonymous

Inevitability,
solid and dark,
is staring me in the face.
Blocking my view.
Reality presses in around me.
Dark tendrils reaching, penetrating,
sucking away my livelihood, my soul.
Heaviness tying me down
and darkness clouding my mind.
Body sinking further, but I will stay.
No, sweet sure surrender, Now you’re taking me apart, and each bodily tremor and shivering…
Death is the only surety.
