Off on my tangent

Sadie

It starts as a beat
You feel it inside
from your
heart
to your fingertips
it thuds.
It swells
pushes and pulls like the tide
you know.
You’ll play, because you’re the best at this game.
I want to snap everyone around me
they’re too stupid, too slow for me,
who do they think they are?
Hurling expletives
I’d rather be simply high
than full of hate,
irritability.
Mercy on those who stand in your way
Swallow them in sheer force.
The stars in your mind tell you
that you can do it,
whatever you want to do
