Lithium

the

I thought I loved you with my heart and soul
I handed over all control
Blinded by the promises you made
Ignoring signs of your cruel charade
Your leaving left me torn and broken
Crying out in words left unspoken
Aching for relief from this torturous pain
I landed up at my doctor’s door again
I must have loved you with my mind
Lithium induced thoughts are smooth and kind
My heart and soul both comfortably numb
I couldn’t care less if you stay away or come
