Is What It Is

James Ellner

The relentless call of emptiness
Just a voided spot in the mind
Where once lived a mindfulness
Now the refill of drug induced amnesia
Who”s this stranger of emptiness?
By what route of travel
Dumped of memory
Strewn with longing
Across miles of forgetfulness
But it”s all a wasteland
There is no itinerary
And it was no accident
It was programmed from sperm
Transposed in passion
Played on the stage of Hades
