In The Heights

Robyn Simaganis

There it is
that blessed relief from the gaping
black hole in myself
the sadness and hopelessness at the bottom
I have grazed with my hands
I have felt the cold and cried in its wake
but here I am now
I am afloat on the wind
I am the wind
I am greater than you
for you are mere mortal and I
am everlasting
my power precedes me
and you tremble in my presence
oh how long will you last blessed relief before
I am plunged again
into the prison that is my mind and
depression again
thoughts of suicide and
please stay here although I am not happy
I am not sad either
