I Am

Kiersten Byelick

If it wasn’t for…
feeling the sun on my face,
the wind in my hair
and the strong ground under my feet,
I don’t think I’d want to be here.
If it wasn’t for…
hearing waves crash against rocks,
a soft breeze blow through the trees
and raindrops patter on rooftops,
I don’t think I’d want to be here.
If it wasn’t for…
seeing a field of wild flowers all in bloom,
billowy white clouds against a brilliant blue sky
and snow capped mountains,
I don’t think I’d want to be here.
And for the beauty of it all…
I am
