Hell’s Kitchen

Anonymous

Hand writing on the wall
She thought she saw last night
She sees instead in the light of day
It’s just the blood left by her clawing fingers
Hot summer sun beating on her long white sleeves
Hiding the scars of her bathtub surgeries
She desperately walks through the grimy city streets
Anonymously, she takes her place in the cubicle next to me…
