Friendly Foe

John Sanders

Faded memories layered deep,
Within the heart and mind asleep,
Of life once lived at steady pace,
Contend in vain to win this race.
In calm or storm no anchor found,
Change alone does me surround.
From giddy heights and submerged lows,
This life I grasp this friendly foe
