bipolar

Maire Payan

There is no hope, only blackness
I descend into the abyss, lost and unable to cope
I feel I am drowning in a sea
Of a substance so thick
It fills my lungs and I choke.
Inside my head thoughts race so fast
My brain, a comet
Hurtles through space with no destination.
I can”t grasp an idea or notion
There”s no clarity
Only deafening sounds that reverberate
Inside my skull.
The blackness returns,
Returns with a vengeance, slowly and deliberately
Strangling the life from me.
I am devolving,
Taking comfort in the black-velvet blackness
Oh Angel of Death,
Consume me
