Title: She Never Leaves

Poem: How long has it been now
Since you were the bright star
I wanted to follow the rest of my life?

My latest assault on romance
Lit the fire too hot
Now I’m burning alone
My heart turning to ashes

Your name’s everywhere I go
Last Saturday night on a couch
The last trailer on the left
Another dead end street
An Adirondack town exit 32
On a speeding ticket today

My latest assault on romance
Lit the fire too hot
Now I’m burning alone
My heart turning to ashes

How long has it been now
Since you were the bright star
I wanted to follow the rest of my life?

My conviction is undeniable
The evidence is clear
I’ll never be happy again
You’ll always be the arsonist of my dreams...
