Poem: Captured and drawn through
a lifetime thread
Meeting the maximum of a lifetime death
Trying to fit in - but
never enough
Break the rules - you are no longer tough
The rules have shifted over
my last few years
Self pity is not the decree
Self sacrifice, admissions of guilt
of not being able to handle life as a daily battle
Then people pounce
medication
justifying
health
But the inner blue flame is no longer there
Blinded by years of despair
I am now expected to submit and conform
A dead creature
Outcast by society which
I try to bring in
only to find my adjustments must be now extreme
I understand feeling is scrutinised
you run further inside yourself
I have not the energy to be different
