Title: Erase. Bleed. Smile
Author: nadaan
Date Submitted: 7/21/2007

Poem: the voices in the head say "there is no magic pill
to erase the pain you feel"
when there seemed no respite in sight the voices got it once right
"it's all inside, get it out and you shall be fine"
heeding to the voices, set out to make things right again, followed the vein, till it hid deep inside,
convinced it should erase the pain, kept following the vein
with the heart-shaped knife and the dagger-shaped will.
the knife was bleeding but the dagger wouldn't give,
soon the exhaustion caught up when it looked there was no more blood to bleed.
tired and weak not able to move an inch, dropped the knife to the floor.
wasn't sure though in my head, cos didn't hear the knife hitting the floor
wasn't sure now, how to spend the strength, the last bits of it that remained,
to hold on to the knife which might not even be there
or to think about the future where there is no more pain
the voices sound again
"don't worry! it's going to be fine!"
saying this is enough to erase the pain
the voices seem to be right, the world became a blur
and relief seemed to be in sight
and so I waited with a smile, thanking the voices in my head
and so I waited lying there, for the last bits of pain to vanish
and so I waited keeping my eyes open, for the ghostly shapes to dissolve
and so I waited and I prayed, to be washed away by one last flood of memories......
