Title: Hush

Poem: when... when did the hush replace words...
words lost their meaning... meaning-less
drivel drying on the tongue with memory...
memory fades, leaving me tying loose ends...
ends of yesterday, today, and tomorrow...
tomorrow i''ll push the envelope further... further...
into stretched-out syllables, pulling phrases out to there...there are days i long to go screaming... screaming like bald tires on a runway of black ice on a turn... turn into one of those whacked-out nuts... nuts you always see in their squirrelly wandering...
wandering the streets of wherever is humming... humming swaying strung-out through the hygenic herds... herds of sanitized & sensible samaritans... samaritans good enough to break rank and pace...
pace the perimeter of my transient personal space...
space taken up with silence then good-for-nothing...
nothing but gibbering nonsense at passersby... passersby by-passing every doddering thought drifting...drifting through their heads... thoughts we''re scared... scared of what others may think that sometimes I almost...almost think out loud catching banal babble bubbling... my innards... gassy, greasy voices...voices that are dying all around me... whispers drowning...drowning out the bite of the gnawing knowledge that somewhere...somewhere close at hand is the answer that will let me hold...hold... hold... hold... hold one, just one, a single coherent thought...that i can pass to others...without this...hush...
