Poem: Lost the old ground of childhood
All that I once loved beneath the earth
Decades gone from my presence
Except in reverie
Broken lines on thought''s history
The creek still babbles
Elizabeth my grandmother dead still in the dank earth
Living in the heartfelt existence of now
Way back before my seasons of vagabonding
Couldn''t find my way
Not even through the young bodies of love and poetry
Everything askew like a bolt of lightning
Living in the uncomforting want
Your soft golden voice
What seemed eons gone
Hands of grandma with her ghost like touch
I live in a foreign land from your resting
Your hand on me in my slumber
I''''m always with you in time immemoriam
And the solemn Requiem plays
I''''ve raised my children or they''''ve nurtured me
All in the exchanging seasons of life
From caregiver to patient
Seasons in the fields of fruition ...
